Dream Design Scapes was engaged to create a modern though cohesive landscape design for a timeless elegant Art Deco home in Hamilton South. ‘Palo Alto’ originally built for William Herbert, an American who brought talking pictures to Newcastle and was the owner of three of the city’s picture theatres has been restyled with a sympathetic renovation by current owners along with Architect – Doring Design.

The landscape design brief was to create a courtyard garden to the rear of the home. The courtyard paved in organic bluestone in a herringbone pattern with an inlay of grass provides connection between the new house extension and the garage, the drying courtyard and driveway keeping in style with the Art Deco home, utilising the curves and lines of the era.

The planting style maintains a classic heritage style suitable for part-shade to shade. The design will includes a material palette complementing the honed driveway selection and classic red brick and sandstone exterior.
